Does your business ask for or incentivize Yelp reviews? If so, it may be time to rethink your reputation management strategy.

According to a recent article at Search Engine Land, Yelp is increasingly cracking down on ‘review solicitation’ across the internet. While “Yelp has historically taken a hardline” against review solicitation, the new policy is more expansive, and in a nutshell warns businesses, ‘don’t ask for reviews.’ Businesses owners are even discouraged from working with third-party review solicitation vendors that try to push positive reviews to Yelp. Yelp maintains these policies are “to preserve user confidence and the integrity of its content.”
